Summer Reading List

Central High School Summer Reading
2020-2021

Dear Parents and Students,

HCDE would like for all Hamilton County high school students to read at least two appropriate books over the summer. We need to close the gap from lost classroom time as well as develop reading habits that will prepare us for college and post-high school careers. All students are allowed to use Audible for their summer reading, but taking notes is highly recommended to prepare for the test at the beginning of the year. Watching movies or using online summaries to avoid the reading is not permitted.

Regular English students should choose one book from their grade-level list to read and choose one additional book on their own. The student-selected book must be at least 100 pages long and can not be something he or she has already read. Honors students should read two books from their grade-level list.
