Music Notes

The Freshman Chorus is made up of ninth graders who want to be a part of a large performing group. They experience participation in at least three concerts in the one semester that they are in choir. There is also opportunity for 8 students to be selected by audition for the All-East Ninth Grade Honors Choir.

The Concert Chorus is a non-auditioned choir open to all interested students. The Concert Chorus has a long tradition of scoring Superior at Choral Competitions throughout the South and Washington D. C. This chorus performs in at least 5 concerts throughout the school year. Many of the singers have gone on to study Music Education or Music Performance in college. They perform a wide variety of musical styles.

The Ensemble is an auditioned group open to all Central students. The group rehearses in the evenings and after school. They double as a Show Choir and as a Chamber Choir. As a Show Choir, they perform for civic and service organizations as well as private dinners and functions that require entertainment.The music students of Central High School are dedicated and work very hard for their school.The Central High School choirs have experienced a long tradition of excellence under the direction of Dr. Martha Boutwell.

The Choral Department is made up of Freshman Chorus, Concert Choir, and the Ensemble.
